Why I do what I do…

This is a question I am asked on many occasions. It should be easy to answer, but unfortunately it is fairly ‘long winded’. I’ll give you the ‘cut down’ version. I have always had a passion for ‘good food’, for ‘nice food’, food that is cooked well and can be enjoyed simply for what it is. Not ‘posh food’ or ‘fancy food’ this doesn’t really impress me…much!! Smiley face!!

I’ve seen lots of sadness in my life and I found myself seeking ‘something’, ‘anything’ that gave me happiness and something to take all of the hurt and pain away. I didn’t really know what I was seeking if I am perfectly honest. It was one conversation that changed me and changed what I thought I could achieve.

I never saw University as an option for me when I left school. We were not ‘the type’. However, after a ‘mothers chat’ with one of the mums at my childrens’ school, I knew that I was going to try and achieve the education that I had always longed for (internally). So for me, gaining a place at Uni and achieving my dream of a degree in Nutrition, that changed everything. I knew I could achieve whatever I set out to achieve, (if I worked hard). And I did it…

But not satisfied with one degree I set about gaining another. ‘I know, me’? 2 degrees, 1 in Nutrition and the other a Post Graduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship. I describe these as ‘my tools’.

So it’s simple really, it wasn’t just the education that gave me ‘life’ but a sense of achievement, and the realisation that I had the ability and character to fulfil my dreams. It opened opportunities that never existed before. So here I am now, about to embark on this crazy, happy journey. Living food, cooking food and best of all eating food. If I can inspire just one other person to fulfil their hopes and dreams then I have done my job.

And so it begins…
